The CBS Building by Eero Saarinen: The Black Rock
In the middle of the concrete jungle that is Manhattan lives a free-standing, 490-foot tower, nestled between West 52nd and 53rd street in Midtown. The CBS building, whose construction began in 1961 and was completed in 1965, was built as the television and radio network’s headquarters.
